Custom pool contractor · Fredericksburg, TX Stone, granite and big skies in Fredericksburg.

Fredericksburg has its own character: German stonework, open vineyard views, and ground that changes from limestone to granite as you head north.

Two kinds of ground

Fredericksburg sits where two Hill Country landscapes meet. Limestone dominates to the south and west. To the north, the land rises toward the granite of the Llano Uplift, and the soils become gravelly and sandy. The two behave differently. Granite-derived soil drains quickly and can be loose, while limestone gives you shallow rock and hard digging. Neither is a problem if it is understood before the design is final, and it is one more reason to start every project with a look at the actual site.

Materials that belong here

The stone houses built by Fredericksburg’s German settlers set a high bar for how buildings can sit in this landscape. New work looks best when it respects that: solid stone, simple forms and thick shade. Our hardscape work uses natural stone, including flagstone, moss rock and cut Lueders stone, and the choice always starts with the house.

Boulder waterfalls and natural pools suit this country well. Our resort pool with boulder spillway and lagoon pool and waterfall show how a pool can look like part of the land.

Designed for the long view

Open land around Fredericksburg means long views and plenty of wind and sun. Pergolas, outdoor kitchens and fireplaces need to be placed with both in mind, so that a terrace is comfortable on a July evening as well as a clear October one. Thoughtful lighting matters too. These are dark skies, and they are worth protecting.
