Custom pool contractor · Northwest San Antonio Where San Antonio climbs into the hills.

North and west of Loop 1604, the city gives way to canyons and limestone hills. Homes here have Hill Country lots and Hill Country challenges, so they call for the same care.

Canyon lots

The northwest edge of San Antonio is where the Balcones Escarpment lifts the land into the Hill Country. Lots here are often steep, rocky and full of mature oaks, with views down a canyon. That combination suits a vanishing edge pool or a terraced outdoor room, but it also calls for retaining walls, stairs and engineered structure. Our modern wet-dam spa and vanishing edge pool in San Antonio pairs entertaining terraces with a swim-up bar and a lower fire feature.

Aquifer rules

Much of far northwest Bexar County lies over the Edwards Aquifer’s recharge and contributing zones, where development rules can be stricter. Limits on impervious cover are one example, and terraces and pools can count toward them. What applies depends on the parcel: whether it sits in the city, in its extraterritorial jurisdiction or elsewhere, and which zone it falls in. That needs to be established early, because it can shape how much hardscape a design can include.

Close to the city, built for the hills

Northwest San Antonio homes are often close to work and still sit on real Hill Country land. An outdoor kitchen and well-planned terraces let a home like this handle both a quiet evening and a full house. Careful lighting keeps those spaces useful after dark.
