01 What does Dynamic Environments do?
Dynamic Environments is a design/build landscape architecture and construction firm in the Texas Hill Country. We design and build custom swimming pools and spas, complete landscapes and outdoor living spaces — vanishing edge pools, perimeter-overflow spas, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, fire and water features, retaining walls, planting and landscape lighting — with one team responsible from the first concept to the finished project.
02 Where is Dynamic Environments located, and what areas do you serve?
Our studio is at 229 Market Ave., Suite 103, Boerne, Texas 78006. We design and build projects across the Texas Hill Country, including Boerne and the San Antonio area.
03 How long has Dynamic Environments been in business?
Dynamic Environments was founded in 1987 — 40 years of designing and building pools, landscapes and outdoor living spaces in Texas.
04 What does “design/build” mean, and why does it matter?
Design/build means one firm both designs and builds your project. Our landscape architecture team develops the master plan and our own skilled crews build it, so there is a single point of accountability, the finished project matches the plan exactly, and costs stay under control.
05 What kinds of pools and spas do you build?
Custom concrete pools and spas in every style: vanishing edge (infinity) pools, perimeter-overflow and wet-dam spas, beach entries and sun shelves, swim-up bars, natural and lagoon-style pools with boulder waterfalls and grottos, and geometric and contemporary pools. You can see 35 completed projects in our portfolio.
06 Do you design complete outdoor living spaces, not just pools?
Yes. Our projects include outdoor kitchens and bars, pergolas and cabanas, fireplaces, fire pits and linear fire features, entertaining terraces, putting greens and sport courts, copper scuppers, runnels and fountains, planting design, irrigation, landscape lighting and rainwater collection systems.
07 Can you build on steep or rocky Hill Country lots?
Yes. Many of our projects sit on hillsides. Structural engineering, retaining walls, grading and drainage, and flagstone and masonry staircases are part of our design/build process, which is what makes features like tall vanishing edges possible.
08 Do you renovate existing pools and backyards?
Yes. We renovate existing pools and outdoor living areas — including pool decking and terraces — and correct problems left by earlier construction.
09 Has Dynamic Environments won design awards?
Yes — more than fifteen regional, national and international design awards, including a 2026 Silver Award and a 2026 Bronze Award from the Southwest Pool & Spa Show, a 2025 Award of Merit, Gold and Silver APSP International Awards of Excellence, APSP Region 3 Design Awards, and Texas Excellence in Landscaping awards from the Texas Nursery & Landscape Association.

John Hackett founded Dynamic Environments in 1987. He is a Texas A&M University landscape architecture graduate (BSLA, 1987) with more than 40 years of experience in landscape architecture and construction.
